versus memoriales

Versus Memoriāles

Verses written to aid the memory; e. g. containing the names of the Muses (Poet. Lat. Min. iii. 243), the names of the winds (id. v. 383), on the constellations (id. v. 349 foll.). They are in Latin, and do not in all probability antedate the fifth or sixth century A.D. Cf. Isidor. De Re Nat. 37.
